Food for Thought or Thought for Food

  • Eating: sandwich w/ cheeze-whizz yum :hungry:
I was in the Philippines February with family and friends. What we usually do after our important errands in the day, we eat out. We all share common interests in life such as eating in a restaurant. You walk through the door, sit down at a table, look over a description of what is offered, then u order, and hope for the best:hungry:. We usually read reviews about certain restaurants, either in the local newspapers or a local magazine depending on where you are. Cebu city in the Philippines had wide varieties of restaurants. Like many people, my friend and I would usually try a new a restaurant. After quite a few disappointments, I realized the reviews we relied on were almost always not accurate about the quality of the meals a particular restaurant served.:ninjastar: For one thing, the reviews tended to be too forgiving. Bad food and bad service, for example, would be overlooked because the restaurant had white tablecloths, or happened to be an establishment where the rich eat. Man, i was having high hopes:fork: During that day, it was hot and long. We were looking forward to going out and this is what happened with us. There were probably moments where the reviewer obviously did not know how a particular dish was supposed to be prepared. If you don't know how to make a bound sauce of butter and cream, if you haven't made many such sauces in your own kitchen; therefore, you probably wouldn't know that such a sauce is incompetently prepared in a restaurant. To where the sauce has broken (the milk solids have separated from the oils..it wasn't a pretty picture). It was like the milk couldn't recognize the oil and decided to divert away :lmao:. Likewise, if all you've eaten are shrimp, treated with nitrates, you wouldn't know that shrimp, normally sweet-smelling, are not supposed to have an awful, embalmed, chemical taste. And just to clarify..i don't eat shrimp. I'm allergic to shrimp The last statement was based on my friend who is currently taking culinary art.
